Years ago there were lots of fashion rules, such as, don’t wear white after Labor Day or be sure to match your shoes to your belt and/or purse.
Do you find you still follow fashion rules? Well, I decided long ago to be a rule breaker and wear what I love. I believe, and share with my clients, when you feel confident in what you are wearing you will shine and stand taller. You can forget the rules.
Often times clients have pieces in their closet and they don’t know what to wear with them or how to mix and match so I thought I would share how I am wearing white past Labor Day and beyond.
My favorite way to wear white past Labor Day is to pair my white jeans with a cotton button-down top in a fun zebra print from Talbots. I paired the top and jeans with a brown belt and brown mule from Franco Sarto playing off the olive in the zebra print top.
Another way I am wearing white past Labor Day is pairing my white jeans with a maroon sweater, again from Talbots. The sweater comes in other colors like camel and black and those could be paired with the white denim as well. I played off the maroon and paired it with a pair of Fleur Sandals by Vionic Shoes.
One of my favorite finds from J.Crew Factory is my Original Schoolboy Blazer. This blazer is lined and is a wool poly blend so it’s perfect to wear in the fall, winter, and spring. I paired the camel blazer with my white jeans and a lightweight ruffle print top from JMcLaughlin. I finished the look with my Perfect Pump 85 by Sarah Flint. Adding a blazer and a heel elevates the overall look and it’s another way to wear white past Labor Day.
If you don’t have white jeans try a pair of white chino pants. Don’t have a zebra print top, try another print that has warm colors in it like, camel, brick red, olive, green, teal and more. Maybe you have a navy top that you can pair with a blazer or an animal print.
